The Greenwood-Phinney ArtWalk kicks off next weekend, May 11 and 12. The foundation of our presence for neighborhood events like this is you! Your willingness to staff our hospitality tables and extend a warm welcome over the years has earned us the reputation as “that friendly church with the delicious cookies.” Will you join this effort again? We’ll need hosts, as well as delicious home made or store-bought cookies to pair with coffee and tea for all our visitors. Please contact our Minister of Outreach Patrick Meagher if you can help.
Come hear advocate Linda Phillips of Senior Information and Assistance in Adult Forum this Sunday morning.
Senior Information and Assistance is part of Senior Services, a non-profit organization serving older adults and their caregivers. Linda will be talking about caring for older adults, how to stay independent in your own home, and about what resources are available. 10:00 in the Tree of Life Room.
Each day in the Child Development Center, we serve 73 children ages 12 months to 6 years with curriculum and interactions focusing on the values of love, kindness, respect compassion, empathy, and inclusion. This to us is the embodiment of Christian education at its best.
You are invited to join us this Sunday at 10am for a chance to see the ministry of PRLC alive and full of spirit in your Child Development Center. We will have our staff on hand and activities going on in all of our classrooms during coffee hour. Please come by and check out the wonderful things that happen in this place, meet our amazing staff, and grab a cup of coffee. Then stay and join us for “Big Chapel” as the CDC opens up the 11am service.
Next week at the 11 a.m. service is CDC (Child Development Center) Sunday . The CDC Mission Team and Staff will also be leading Adult Forum – IN THE CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER – beginning at 10 a.m. There will be a reception and several displays in the CDC, plenty of refreshments and – of course – coffee and other beverages. This is our one chance each year to formally visit and interact in the CDC, and many of the children and families will be on hand to greet us and to get to know us as their host congregation. At worship, our Entrance Rite for the day will be “Big Chapel,” a model of the children’s weekly Thursday morning worship. You will both have the opportunity to participate and observe. It’s a great chance to see what happens on a “regular Thursday” as the parish and the center interact. We will also have the opportunity to thank and welcome our CDC children, staff, and families at 11 a.m. worship.
With final expenses paid, we raised just over $3000 for the PRLC Outreach Fund at this year’s Easter Breakfast. On behalf of the individuals whose lives will be dramatically helped by these funds, I thank you for your thoughtful generosity. A special thanks also goes to the many volunteers who plan, shop, cook, serve, clean up, manage, and do everything else to make this fundraiser possible. Additional Outreach Fund donations are always welcome, and especially so as we prepare to host the Mary’s Place Shelter.
Tues May 1 5pm—Tues May 8 7am
Thanks to the over 35(!!) people who have volunteered to prepare, welcome, sleep over, cook & tutor.
A little information:
Where will our guests be staying & what times?
Each day they’ll arrive at 5pm & depart next a.m. Our 14 guests, moms & children, will be dining in the library and sleeping in classrooms 301 & 302.
When I am in the church while our guests and PRLC hosts are here should I avoid these areas?
It won’t be a problem if you pass through, but if you can use the bathrooms on the lower level and other stairways it will help preserve our guests’ sense of privacy.
Where will the classes that are usually in 301 & 302 be held?
Please watch for signage about temporary spots.
Our guests will have the option to enjoy dinner Wednesday and Sunday in Fellowship Hall or eat their meal in the library… if they join the group meal, we know we can count on you to welcome them without overwhelming.
Do you still need help?
Yes! You can help by making a donation to PRLC with “Outreach Fund” in your check memo line. This money will help defray cost of supplies, gas for transportation & groceries like snacks & cold breakfasts.
Are you and a friend available Tuesday morning May 8 to launder 10-12 loads of bedding (laundromat!) & deliver them + inflatable beds to the next host church in Bothell by 4pm? Please call Signe to volunteer.
