In some Mediterranean cultures the olive tree is
known as the “tree of love”. This is because some varieties do not bear
fruit for many years. The sower therefore, might never taste of its fruit.
However, once established, with proper care, an olive tree can bear fruit
for up to 500 years. Planting such a tree is an act of love, intended to
provide fruit not for yourself, but for those who come after you. It is
like that with gifts to the endowment fund. The financial gift is the tree,
to be cared for and nurtured. The interest it earns is the fruit.

Longtime member, Paulina Hildenbrand died on
September 7th, 2001. Mrs. Hildenbrand left a generous
bequest of her home and other property to the church. Her gift will
automatically pass to Phinney’s Endowment Fund. We remember and give
thanks for Paulina, her life in service, and giving in ministry, even
after death
In the past, because of such gifts, Phinney’s
endowment has been able to provide funds to help purchase our access van
and establish our website, provide scholarships, support outreach to
college students and most recently, fund the expanded youth music
program and Sunday Evening prayer. Because of Mrs. Hildebrand wonderful
gift, we can now do even more.
Through her thoughtfulness and generosity,
Paulina Hildenbrand has provided a tree of love that will bear fruit for
many generations of Phinney members to come. We invite you to partake
of this fruit. Is there a ministry opportunity you’ve dreamed of? We
encourage you to bring a proposal to your Endowment Committee. |
The Endowment Fund receives gifts and bequests for the mission of Jesus
Christ, enabling PRLC to engage in community outreach, special mission, and
capital improvement programs and projects that would not be possible using
the Church’s normal stewardship, benevolence and social ministry efforts.
An Endowment Fund Committee administers it, investing its assets in
income-producing resources. Only the income earned from the invested
principal is disbursed. The Fund is not used to fund the general operation
budget of PRLC.
