Adult Education at Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church
Continuing education in our life of faith is important at
Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church. We say so right in our mission
statement: "…to grow in the knowledge of Jesus
Christ."
There are many ways for adults to enjoy opportunities for
learning.
Adult Education Courses on Sunday Mornings between Services
Each Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m., there are at least two and
usually three different classes running. There is never any
advance registration necessary. All that’s needed is a desire to
learn – so just come and join in the opportunity to learn.
Our Sunday classes range from beginning level Bible studies to
what you might expect in a university level learning opportunity.
Some are taught by our own members and pastors; sometimes we bring
in guest speakers on a variety of topics.
Each Sunday we try to have a course running that is Bible
study, and at least one other which is about living the faith we
share. Our past curriculum has included such things as Religion
and Science, The Gospel of Mark, Old Testament History, A
Christian Response to Homosexuality. The list goes on. Every
summer a group of members gets together to plan adult education
for the Sunday mornings of the coming year.
Women's Bible
Study Circles
Phinney
Lutheran has three different Women’s Bible Study Circles that
meet at daytime hours once each month to be led by one of our
pastors in the study of a specific book or passage in the Bible.
-
Mary/Martha Circle meets on the second Wednesday
at 1:00 at church
-
Bethany Circle meets on the third Monday at 9:30
a.m. in a member’s home
-
Salem Circle meets on the third Wednesday at 9:30
a.m. in a member’s home
If
none of these Circle Days work for you, we’d be happy to help
you get a group of six or so people together to form a brand new
one. Just ask!
Men's Bible Study
Men meet Tuesday mornings in the Library 6:15 to 7:30 for Bible
study
Additional
Opportunities
Our
staff and lay leaders are always open to your suggestions for
additional classes that might be offered. We’d love to teach
something that you’d be really interested in learning about, and
committed to attending.
We advertise and encourage members,
friends and guests to participate in a host of high quality
educational opportunities throughout the Puget Sound Area, such as
these related institutions: Northwest
