Food Bank Volunteers Needed
Have you
ever considered volunteering a couple hours of your time each month to
help make life better for those less fortunate in our community? How
about working with the PRLC Food Bank? There has never been a better
time than now! We are currently in need of more volunteers.
Volunteers
are needed to work in the food bank – preparing food boxes and handing
them out to our clients – and also answering the food bank appointment
phones, scheduling times for clients to come get food. Both positions
are 2-hour monthly obligations, although some volunteers sign up for
multiple shifts.
Volunteer
schedulers answer the phones and schedule appointments between 1:00
PM and 3:00 PM, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Volunteers in the
food bank work on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 1:00 PM and 3:00
PM, and Wednesdays and Thursdays between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
Please check
the Count Me in Form for specific times and days to volunteer. If you
have specific questions about volunteering, please speak with Patrick
Meagher (if you want to work in the food bank) or Mary Bergstrom (if
you want to help with the scheduling). For general questions about the
food bank please speak with anyone of the food bank mission team
(Jo-Ann Cress, Ben Maier, Karen Snedker, and Sally Thompson). Thank
you for your service.
11am Ushers Needed
Here’s a
great opportunity for a family, a couple, a single person… Newcomers,
folks who’ve been around for years and years. How about serving as an
usher for our 11:00 a.m. service? Typically, ushers serve for a month
at time, then take two months off. Duties include arriving 20 minutes
before the service, greeting and handing out bulletins, assisting
newcomers, receiving the Sunday offerings, directing worshipers to the
Lord’s table, straightening up the chancel following liturgy.
Interested? Let Don know at Grace Station, sign up on Count Me In,
speak to a present 11:00 a.m. usher, or talk with one of the pastors.
Plastic
Bags Needed
The Food
Bank is in need of plastic grocery bags with handles. They can be
dropped off in the barrel in Narthex right next to the Tower Doors.
Thanks!
Old sheets & Blankets Needed
Do you have any old
(but clean) sheets and blankets around the house that are no longer
being used? The Monday morning Quilters group can put them to good
use. They can be dropped of at the Grace Station or the church
office.

Adult
Choir Opportunities
There are
many opportunities for those who enjoy music to lead our congregation
in worship. New members are welcome at anytime throughout the year,
but the fall season is a great time to start. For more information
about any of the opportunities below, please contact the church office
at office@prlc.org or 783-2350.
Chancel
Choir is for singers who enjoy leading in
worship with the classic music of the church. Psalms, hymns,
Spirituals and world music, as well as choral masterpieces from the
Baroque to the present are part of the Chancel Choir repertoire.
The Chancel Choir leads congregational song and sings an offertory
anthem for 11:00 worship most weeks, and rehearses Wednesdays,
7:30-9:00pm beginning Sept. 3. Previous choir or music-reading
experience is helpful but not required.
Gospel
Choir is for singers who enjoy high-energy
Contemporary Gospel, African-American Spirituals, and Global Music.
The Gospel Choir leads congregational singing once a month for 8:30
worship and once a month for evening prayer. There are also several
opportunities to sing in the community each season. Rehearsal is each
Wednesday during Bread for the Journey from 6:20-7:15pm in the Tree of
Life Room beginning Sept. 10. Music reading is not necessary but must
be able to match pitch.
Once
monthly, Vesper Choir leads Evening Prayer with meditative
Psalms, hymns, chant and the classic Evening Prayer service from the
ELW. Vesper Choir rehearses at 6:20pm, prior to 7:00 Evening Prayer.
Handbell
Choir meets for 5-6 weeks in the fall and
5-6 weeks in the spring. Each 5-6 week session includes Sunday
rehearsals, 5:30-6:45pm and ringing in several worship services. No
experience is necessary, but music-reading ability is required. (A
great opportunity for lapsed instrumentalists!)
