The WAY
Are you in The Way?
It is such a common question, and it makes perfect sense to
folks who have been around PRLC for a time, but for newcomers, it
can be a shocking question. “In The Way? What do you mean?
I thought all were welcome here!”
Indeed, all are
welcome here and newcomers are especially welcome to be in
The Way! The Way is a way of welcome to this
congregation, but more importantly, to a deeper life of faith and
faithful living. The autumn season of regular Sunday evening Way
meetings will begin on October 12 and continue through December 7.
Each week will address a general topic such as Sacred Writings, the
Church, Worship and Prayer and will also include time to get to know
other newcomers and Phinney members. Pick up a brochure at the
Grace Station for a full list of meeting dates or contact one of the
pastors for more information. Jesus said, “I am the Way, the
Truth and the Life.” Won’t you be a follower of The Way of Christ

Spirited Women
Every Wednesday morning the
Tree of Life room is abuzz with laughter, mutual care and support and
prayer shared by Spirited Women. Gathering time and informal
conversation begin at 9:30. At 10 we turn our attention to the
selected book at hand. At 11:15 we share prayer concerns and by 11:30
we are on our way. Tasty snacks nurture the body; faith sharing feeds
the soul. Child care is provided by Jo-Ann Cress. The type of
reading material varies throughout the year from devotional and
reflective to theological and challenging, all of which lead to
spirited conversation by Spirited Women. Come and see! All are
welcome!
Monday Mornings With Mark
A new six
week Bible Study series will begin on Monday, October 6 in the church
library. Join us at 7:30 a.m. as we read and discuss Mark 8.22 –
10.52. We’ll ponder Mark’s use of narrative art in the service of the
Holy Spirit to open our eyes to the meaning of Jesus’ death and
resurrection for our common life. Our aim is to encourage and support
one another in understanding and living out our baptism. Refreshments
will be provided.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
One morning every month the
church library is changed from reading room to knitting room. Within
that space, wisdom and skill are shared, stories told, and prayers are
raised to the gentle tik, tik, tik of knitting needles or the
silent pick and pull of a crochet hook. Beautiful color, texture and
pattern form the shawls that will be given as a tangible extension of
the arms of the church. Whether in sorrow, sickness, or joy, the
shawls carry with them the love and care of those who have made them,
and the prayers that have blessed them. All skill levels are welcome
on the second Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to noon.
