Some exciting things are happening with some of the men and women who have served us over the years. Here’s a little update about some names and ministries you might remember.
Justin Walker (2000-2001): Justin is currently a candidate to become pastor of Peace Lutheran Church in Holland, Michigan. If the call is issued, Justin will be ordained sometime in August.
Pastor Kathy Kirkham Ierien (2001-2002): Kathy serves as pastor of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Wilmington, Delaware. She and her girls hope to be in Seattle in July and will visit the congregation for Sunday morning worship. Be watching for them!
Pastor Nathan Baker Trinity (2004-2005): Nathan and his family have recently moved to Central Pennsylvania after early years of service in Northern Minnesota. “Family” now includes both Nathan and Jennifer as well as sons Thomas and and their daughter, Miriam.
Pastor Shawn Berkebile (2007-2008): Shawn and his wife Rachel live in Abbottstown, Pennsylvania, where Shawn is pastor of St. John Lutheran Church. They just undertook a renovation program! Shawn and Rachel are the parents of two children, Drew and Elizabeth. Rachel worked in the CDC while Shawn was vicar for us, and now is a high school guidance counselor. The couple will visit Seattle and PRLC during the Labor Day weekend.
Both Debbie Boyce (2010-2011) and Gina Herman (2011-2012) have been approved for ordination through the NWW Synod Candidacy Committee. Debbie has just finished her last class and is awaiting call. She is currently in the interview process with a NWW Synod congregation. Gina will complete her studies at the Lutheran Seminary in Chicago this fall.
Pastor Donna Reilly Williams, who served our parish as our first intern in 1999-2000, continues in hospice care at her West Seattle home. Prayers for both Donna and Cliff are welcome. A greeting by mail would be an extra kindness. You can reach them at 5326 SW Manning Street, Seattle, WA 98116.
